IMET2000 Awards Partial Scholarships to Undergraduate Medical and Nursing Students in Palestine

IMET2000 has awarded the first batch of scholarships to medical and nursing students in Palestine, reaffirming its strong commitment to supporting students who are striving to continue their education under extremely challenging academic, financial, and conditions.

This first batch includes 12 partial scholarships awarded to students from Al-Quds University, Arab American University, and Hebron University. The initiative aims to stand by students, support them financially, and help them complete their university education despite the challenges they face.

The students expressed their sincere thanks to IMET2000 for the scholarships and its continued support, saying that this assistance makes a real difference in their ability to continue their education. IMET2000 Equips Healthcare Professionals with Life-Saving Skills

Recognising the vital importance of immediate response in saving lives, IMET2000-Pal conducted two specialised training workshops titled: “Critical Core Training: Basic Life Support (BLS) Training for Healthcare Professionals. ”

The sessions were held on 8 December at MET2000-Pal Training Centre in Ramallah and on 22 December at An-Najah Heart Centre, attended by 18 doctors and nurses.

The workshops aim to provide essential theoretical knowledge and practical skills in cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) for adults, children, and infants, as well as training on the safe and effective use of Automated External Defibrillators (AEDs). The trainings were delivered by certified instructors accredited by the American Heart Association (AHA), ensuring participants received up-to-date, standardised instruction in line with international guidelines.

IMET2000-Pal Conducts Two Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) Training Workshops for Healthcare Professionals

IMET2000-Pal hosted two Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) training workshops at the IMET2000-Pal Training Centre, targeting different healthcare professionals. Both workshops were delivered by certified instructors accredited by the American Heart Association (AHA).

The first workshop, titled

Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) Course for Paramedics” , was held on December 1–2, 2025, and was attended by six paramedics.

The second workshop, titled “Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) Course for Physicians and Nurses” , took place on December 29–30, 2025, with the participation of six doctors and nurses from various hospitals.

Both workshops covered the same core content, focusing on the management of respiratory and cardiac arrest, symptomatic bradycardia, airway and stroke management, and relevant pharmacological interventions. In addition, strong emphasis was placed on enhancing communication and leadership skills within an ACLS team.

IMET2000 continues its commitment to advancing Palestinian nursing professionals by awarding a partial PhD scholarship to Mr Bilal Awad, enabling him to pursue a PhD in Palliative Care Nursing at Comillas Pontifical University in Spain

Investing in advanced nursing education is a strategic step towards strengthening palliative care services in Palestine, where cancer patients require not only clinical treatment but also continuous psychological and emotional support throughout their care journey. Mr Bilal Awad expressed his gratitude, stating: “This scholarship represents a life-changing opportunity. It will allow me to focus on developing my PhD research in oncology and palliative care, to improve the health and wellbeing of cancer patients in Palestine. ”

 

IMET2000 Hands in Scientific Books to Palestinian University Libraries

As part of its ongoing partnership with Book Aid International, IMET2000 has donated a new collection of scientific books to the libraries of Palestine Polytechnic University – Hebron and Arab American University Palestine – Ramallah Campus. The collection covers different fields such as medicine, nursing, dentistry, higher education, and scientific research. It aims to support students and faculty by providing easy access to up-to-date global knowledge. Through this programme, IMET2000 continues to strengthen Palestinian university libraries with advanced academic resources, supporting students and educators to stay aligned with modern developments in health sciences and research.

IMET2000 and Dura Al-Amal Charitable Association Sign a Memorandum of Understanding to Support Children with Learning Difficulties in Palestine

IMET2000 and Dura Al-Amal Charitable Association have signed a Memorandum of Understanding aimed at strengthening services for children with learning difficulties in the southern West Bank. Under this agreement, IMET2000 will support Dura Al-Amal Charitable Association through targeted interventions that improve child mental health and wellbeing, strengthen educational and therapeutic services, and build the professional capacities of staff in both career development and physical trauma and mental health care.

The signing took place at IMET2000-Pal in Ramallah and was attended by Dr Fadi Zaben and Dr Ahmad Rjoub on behalf of IMET2000, and Dr Mohammad Al-Sayed Ahmed, President, and Mrs Marcel Sweiti, Director, representing Dura Al-Amal, alongside representatives from both charities. This collaboration represents a strategic step towards empowering local charities and improving access to integrated, high-quality services for children with learning difficulties, contributing to their overall development and long term well-being in Palestine.

IMET2000 Enables Dr Omar Alwan from Gaza Strip to Complete Internship Training in Jordan

IMET2000 has provided a partial grant to Dr Omar Alwan, a graduate of Al-Azhar University’s Faculty of Medicine, enabling him to complete his internship training at Al-Bashir Hospital in Jordan. This initiative is part of IMET2000’s ongoing efforts to empower young Palestinian medical professionals and support newly graduated doctors during the early stages of their careers, enhancing their clinical skills and preparing them to meet the requirements for medical practice effectively.

Dr Omar Alwan thanked IMET2000, saying: “I would like to express my sincere gratitude to IMET2000 for supporting me during my medical training in Jordan. This support came at a critical time, especially given the challenging circumstances in Gaza. IMET2000-Pal Organises Trauma Evaluation and Management Course (TEAM™)

IMET2000-Pal organised a new class of the Trauma Evaluation and Management (TEAM™) course, accredited by the American College of Surgeons, on 27 November 2025 at IMET2000-Pal Training Centre in Ramallah. Eight physicians, nurses, and medical students participated in an intensive programme that blended interactive lectures, video demonstrations, case-based discussions, and practical skills training. The course establishes international standards for rapid trauma assessment and management, thereby equipping frontline healthcare professionals with the skills needed to make critical, life-saving decisions under pressure. This initiative enhances Palestinian professionals ‘ capacity to save lives during critical moments.

This course demonstrates IMET2000’s dedication to equipping Palestinian medical teams to address the urgent challenges of emergency, trauma, and critical care, where trauma remains a daily concern.

 

IMET2000 Grants Dr Hasan Arafat a Travel Bursary to Participate in the 90th Annual CHEST Conference

IMET2000 supported Dr Hasan Arafat’s attendance at the 90th Annual CHEST Conference, organised by the American College of Chest Physicians, held in Chicago, USA. CHEST is one of the leading global platforms for physicians and specialists in respiratory medicine and critical care. The conference provides an opportunity to share the latest research, scientific recommendations, and innovations in respiratory health.

During the conference, Dr Arafat presented a research abstract entitled: “Lung Cancer Demographics among Patients in the West Bank, Palestinian Authority: A Multicentre Study. ”

IMET2000 held a specialised workshop titled “Stress Relief and Management for Mothers of Children with Learning Difficulties” at Star Mountain Centre, Ramallah. The session, led by Dr Afaf Rabee and Ms Nisreen Salman from the Universal Education Foundation, brought together 18 mothers who face daily emotional and social challenges caring for their children. Through interactive discussions and practical activities, participants learned healthy ways to manage stress and strengthen their confidence as caregivers.

IMET2000 Sponsors Dr Mosab Ghnimat for Subspecialty Training in Paediatric Haematology and Oncology at the King Hussein Cancer Centre

IMET2000 awarded Dr. Mosab Ghnimat a distinguished scholarship to pursue his subspecialty training in Paediatric Haematology and Oncology at the King Hussein Cancer Centre in Jordan.

This support is part of IMET2000’s programme to train Palestinian doctors in advanced medical centres, facilitating the transfer of global knowledge and expertise to strengthen the Palestinian healthcare system.

During his training, Dr Ghnimat will gain extensive clinical experience, including exposure to the latest treatment protocols for childhood cancers, bone marrow transplantation, immunotherapy, and stem cell treatments. He will also develop skills in managing complex cases according to international standards of specialised care.

held in Ramallah and attended by more than 60 physicians and healthcare professionals from the Istishari Arab Hospital.

 Prof Malik Zaben, CEO of IMET2000, opened the workshop with a welcoming speech, highlighting the importance of this collaboration and the commitment of IMET2000 & Arab Hospitals Group to promoting evidence-based practice and continuous professional development.

Dr Nidal Abu Khayzaran, Board Member of Arab Hospitals Group, emphasised that this workshop marks the beginning of a series of joint initiatives aimed at strengthening research skills and improving the quality of healthcare services.

Prof Malik Zaben delivered the workshop, covering essential aspects of clinical research methodology, including the principles of clinical audit, the fundamentals of research project design, and key research writing skills. The training included several case-based exercises, in which participants worked in small groups to apply the learned concepts to realistic scenarios for clinical audit and research. This was followed by group discussions, which helped strengthen their practical understanding of the concepts presented.

IMET2000 and Arab American University Palestine Sign Renewal of Cooperation Agreement

IMET2000 has renewed its cooperation agreement with the Arab American University – Palestine (AAUP), reflecting the shared commitment of both parties to strengthen academic and professional partnerships and advance health education in Palestine. The signing ceremony was held at AAUP’s Ramallah campus, with Mr Fadi Zaben representing IMET2000 and Dr Baraa Asfour, the President of AAUP, signing on behalf of the university. The event was attended by key representatives from both parties.

The renewed agreement will support continuous education and advanced professional training in research, trauma, mental health, and clinical skills, while providing medical and nursing students with opportunities to develop their practical skills and prepare for the healthcare workforce. IMET2000 awarded a travel grant to Mr Bilal Awad, a nurse at Beit Jala Hospital in Bethlehem, to participate in the European Society for Medical Oncology (ESMO) Congress held in Berlin, Germany. He presented a research paper entitled: “Knowledge, Attitudes, and Self-Efficacy Regarding Palliative Care Among Palestinian Nurses in Intensive Care Units.”

IMET2000 Advances Mental Health Awareness Among Palestinian Healthcare Workers

Recognising the growing pressures faced by doctors and nurses on the frontlines, IMET2000-Pal reaffirmed its commitment to supporting the mental well-being of Palestinian healthcare professionals by hosting a Stress Relief and Management Workshop in Nablus on 29 October 2025, in partnership with the Palestinian Ministry of Health.

The workshop brought together doctors, nurses, and social workers from hospitals across northern Palestine, including Jenin Governmental Hospital, Tulkarem Governmental Hospital, Rafidia Surgical Hospital (Nablus), Al Watani Hospital (Nablus), and Qalqila Governmental Hospital. Participants explored practical strategies for coping with stress and maintaining emotional balance in demanding work environments. Through interactive discussions and self-care exercises led by Dr Afaf Rabee from the Universal Education Foundation, they learned effective techniques to recognise, manage, and release stress.

IMET2000 Organises Second “Inspiring Medical Excellence through Research (IMET-R)” Workshop

As part of its programme to support continuing professional development, IMET2000 organised the second session of the “Inspiring Medical Excellence through Research (IMET-R)” workshop. The workshop was held at the IMET2000-Pal centre over three days (from September 30 to October 2), with the participation of 18 trainees, including newly graduated doctors and nurses, and clinical medical students. Prof Malik Zaben, CEO of IMET2000 and Dean of the Faculty of Medicine at the Arab American University, opened the training by appreciating the trainees’ interest in research and encouraged them to make the most of the training to enhance their research skills. Professor Zaben delivered a valuable lecture on the fundamentals of scientific research, offering advice from his own experience on utilising scientific research as a means to achieve medical excellence.

Dr Ahmed Rajoub, Medical Education Officer at IMET2000-Pal, led the training, which addressed research concepts ranging from foundational to advanced levels. The three-day workshop included scientific lectures and practical sessions on formulating research questions, conducting literature reviews, writing proposals, collecting and analysing data, manuscript preparation, critical appraisal, and research ethics as a result of the training.

Participants expressed appreciation to IMET2000 for offering opportunities to develop research skills and support the ongoing professional development of healthcare workers. They commended the quality of the training and the relevance of the workshop topics, highlighting the need for similar initiatives in the future. The IMET-R programme aims to enhance research education in healthcare sciences and improve the quality of scientific research conducted by Palestinian healthcare students and junior practitioners, thereby contributing to the advancement of the health sector and the standard of medical care in Palestine.

Palestinian Medical Students Gain Clinical Experience in the United States Supported by IMET2000

IMET2000-Pal supported two Palestinian medical students, Mr Baraa Diab and Mr Mohammed Rabaiaa from Jenin City, in completing an advanced clinical training programme in Haematology & Oncology at the University of Kansas Medical Centre. Both students are in their fifth year at the Arab American University – Palestine. The programme provided the students with practical experience in the latest treatment protocols and innovative techniques in blood and cancer care, allowing them to engage directly in advanced clinical practice.

Mr Baraa and Mr Mohammed expressed their gratitude to IMET2000, describing the placement as a pivotal stage in their medical education. They highlighted how the experience strengthened their clinical skills and expanded their knowledge, preparing them to make a meaningful contribution to healthcare in Palestine. In an inspiring step towards preparing the next generation of healthcare professionals, IMET2000-Pal, in cooperation with Arab American University Palestine (AAUP), delivered two “Stop the Bleed” workshops for the third-year medical students.

The sessions took place on 8 September at Jenin Campus and 15 September at Al-Rihan Campus – AAUP, with a total of 37 students participating. The workshops aimed to equip future doctors with the skills required to respond effectively to life-threatening bleeding, whether in clinical environments or everyday situations.

During the workshops, students engaged in both theoretical learning and practical exercises using high-fidelity mannequins, mastering essential bleeding control techniques such as wound compression, wound packing, and tourniquet application. Participants praised the workshops for their practical content and hands-on approach, describing the experience as “exceptional and pivotal” in boosting their confidence and readiness to act in real-life emergencies. The workshops were led by accredited American College of Surgeons instructors.

IMET2000 Sponsered Mr Oday Shaar’s Clinical Training in Turkey

Dreams of becoming a skilled doctor need more than textbooks—they need real-life experience. That’s why IMET2000 supported Mr Oday Shaar, a fifth-year medical student at An-Najah National University, to take part in advanced clinical training in Istanbul.

Through this grant, Mr Oday was able to join an intensive training programme at

Dr Suleyman Yalcin City Hospital in Istanbul. He gained hands-on experience in surgery, engaged in advanced clinical activities. He closely interacted with leading physicians and consultants, an opportunity that significantly enriched his practical skills and professional knowledge.

IMET2000 Expands Emergency Response Training with Two ACLS Workshops for Jenin Governmental Hospital Physicians

As part of its ongoing mission to strengthen emergency care capabilities among Palestinian healthcare professionals in Jenin, IMET2000 conducted two: Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) training workshops Specifically targeting physicians from Jenin Governmental Hospital — a key institution serving the northern West Bank.

The first workshop took place on July 20–21, followed by a second on July 27–28. Each session welcomed six physicians, bringing the total number of trained participants to 12. Both workshops were led by American Heart Association (AHA)-certified instructors and covered essential emergency care topics, including the management of respiratory and cardiac arrest, symptomatic bradycardia, airway and stroke management, and related pharmacological interventions. A strong emphasis was also placed on communication and leadership within ACLS teams.

IMET2000 conducts an on-site Clinical Research Training for Beginners at Rafidia Governmental Hospital in collaboration with the hospital’s Continuous Medical Education (CME) Department. The two-day training took place from July 9 to 10, 2025. The programme welcomed 15 participants, including physicians, nurses, and infection control officers

The programme was designed to equip participants with practical skills in clinical research methodologies, aiming to improve both the quality and quantity of clinical research conducted in Palestine. On 17–18 June, an ACLS workshop was held at IMET2000’s Ramallah Centre and attended by six physicians across the West Bank.

The second workshop, held on 18–19 June in Jenin, was designed specifically for six physicians from Jenin Governmental Hospital — a key medical facility serving the northern West Bank. Jenin was deliberately selected as the training site due to the critical need to support its healthcare sector amid ongoing challenges. The workshop aimed to boost the preparedness of frontline medical staff in responding to life-threatening cardiac and respiratory emergencies.

Renewed Partnership with the Early Intervention Charitable Society to Support Children with Disabilities

In a continued effort to create meaningful change in the lives of children with disabilities, IMET2000 has renewed its cooperation agreement with the Early Intervention Charitable Society in Beit Ur Al-Tahta, West of Ramallah.

Dr Al-Habil will begin his rotation at the University of Iowa in June 2025, continue at the University of Chicago in July, and conclude at the University of California, San Diego in August. The programme will provide hands-on training in vascular neurology, with exposure to advanced stroke management and neuroimaging techniques alongside leading specialists in the field.

As part of its mission to foster academic and clinical collaboration, IMET2000 has signed a Memorandum of Understanding with An-Najah National University Hospital in Nablus. The agreement was formalised on Tuesday, 17 June 2025, during a signing ceremony at the hospital, with representatives from both organisations in attendance. IMET2000-Pal was represented by Mr Fady Zaben, Dr Ahmad Rajoub, and Ms Marah Qatouni, while the hospital was represented by Executive Director Dr Iyad Maqbool and senior administrative staff.

The partnership aims to strengthen the hospital’s Health Education and Professional Development Unit through joint training programmes in key areas such as clinical research, trauma care, oncology, mental health, and continuous professional development. IMET2000 Supported Dr Khayria Assaf’s Participation in Youth Pre-WHA 2025 in Geneva

Dr Khayria Assaf, an intern doctor at Jenin Governmental Hospital, received a grant from IMET2000 to attend the Youth Pre-World Health Assembly (Youth Pre-WHA) in Geneva, Switzerland, held from May 14 to May 18, 2025. IMET2000-Pal Supports Riyadh Charity in the Rehabilitation of People with Disabilities

As part of its ongoing commitment to supporting the psychological and therapeutic wellbeing of children in Palestine, IMET2000 has renewed its support grant to Al-Riyad Charitable Society for People with Disabilities in the Salfit Governorate. This charity focuses on providing care for children with learning difficulties and autism spectrum disorders. The renewed grant aims to ensure that children continue to receive therapy sessions, including psychological counselling, occupational therapy, and speech therapy.

An agreement was signed between IMET2000 and Al-Riyad Charity in the presence of Mr Fady Zaben, IMET2000-Pal representative, and Mrs Alia Taradeh, Administrative Assistant. Representing Al-Riyad Charity were Mr Farooq Al-Deek, Executive Director, and Mrs Amina Odeh, Director of the Charity.

The two parties also discussed the development of specialised training programmes to enhance the skills of therapists and specialists working within the charity, with the aim of improving the quality of services provided to children with learning difficulties.

IMET2000 Supports Jasmine Society in the Rehabilitation of Children with Disabilities

As part of its ongoing efforts to enhance the care of children with disabilities in Palestine, IMET2000 has provided a support grant to Jasmine Society– Ramallah. The grant will cover the costs of rehabilitation and treatment sessions for several children at Jasmine society, for a full year. As part of this collaboration, IMET2000 hosted, the administrative board of Jasmine society, represented by Mr Omar Al-Amin, Chairman of the Board, Mr Munjed Shbat, Vice Chairman, and Dr Nancy Haidar, a board member to sign a cooperation agreement between the two parties.

This agreement aims to strengthen rehabilitation and care services for children through various programmes, including: physiotherapy and occupational therapy, speech therapy, learning difficulties support programmes, and psychological and social counselling. To improving the children’s quality of life and promoting their active participation in society.

IMET2000-Pal Hosted an Advanced Cardiac Life Support Training for Physicians and Nurses at IMET2000-Pal Training Centre

IMET2000-Pal hosted a training workshop on advanced cardiopulmonary resuscitation  attended by six doctors and nurses from various hospitals. The workshop was titled:

Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) Course for Physicians and Nurses, accredited by the (AHA).

IMET2000 conducted this training workshop at the IMET2000-Pal Training Centre, focusing on critical topics such as managing respiratory and cardiac arrest, symptomatic bradycardia, airway and stroke management, and related pharmacology. Additionally, the workshop emphasised enhancing communication and leadership skills within an ACLS team.

IMET2000 Awarded Dr Abdelrahman Mohammad a Sponsorship for Clinical Attachment in the UK

Dr Abdelrahman Mohammad has been awarded a clinical attachment grant from IMET2000 for a clinical training placement in the Department of Nephrology at Walsall Healthcare System – NHS Trust in the UK. This prestigious opportunity spanned three months and enabled Dr Abdelrahman to engage in the work environment of the National Health Service (NHS) in the United Kingdom, providing him with invaluable experience that will enhance his medical skills and practical knowledge. IMET2000 extends its heartfelt congratulations to Dr Abdelrahman on this new accomplishment and wishes him continued success and excellence in his professional journey, aspiring to become a source of pride and an exemplary ambassador for the Palestinian medical sector.

IMET2000-Pal Organised Two Basic Life Support Training Workshops

IMET2000-Pal organised two training workshops on 10th and 19th March 2025, attended by 15 doctors and nurses from various hospitals. The workshops, titled:

Critical Core Training: Basic Life Support (BLS) for Healthcare Professionals

 The workshops were held at the IMET2000-Pal Training Centre and An-Najah Heart Training Centre. The sessions aimed to equip participants with essential skills in cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) for adults, children, and infants, as well as the proper use of Automated External Defibrillators (AEDs) through both theoretical instruction and practical application. The training was delivered by certified instructors from the Modern College University Heart Centre and An-Najah Heart Training Centre, accredited by the American Heart Association (AHA).

IMET2000 Conducted Stop the Bleed Training Workshop

IMET2000 in collaboration with Birzeit University, conducted a STOP THE BLEED training accredited by the American College of Surgeons. The course, held at the IMET2000 Training Centre in Ramallah, was attended by 15 nursing students from Birzeit University.

The training was led by Mr Fady Zaben, the representative of IMET2000-Pal, who commenced with a comprehensive introduction, emphasising the significance of the course. He highlighted its critical importance in equipping individuals with the skills to intervene in life-threatening bleeding incidents, which can occur in various everyday situations. Following the theoretical segment, participants applied their knowledge through structured scientific and practical exercises. Using specialised mannequins and realistic scenarios simulating both adult and paediatric cases, they practised essential bleeding control techniques.

IMET2000 Supports Dr Nader Sarhan in his Sub-Specialisation in Interventional Oncoradiology

IMET2000 has provided support to Dr Nader Sarhan, a physician at Beit Jala Governmental Hospital in Bethlehem, during his fellowship training in Interventional Oncoradiology at the King Hussein Cancer Centre in Jordan. This support aims to equip Dr Sarhan with hands-on experience in the latest interventional radiology techniques, contributing to the improvement of oncology care in Palestine. Expressing his gratitude, Dr Sarhan thanked IMET2000 for this valuable opportunity, emphasising that the training will enable him to gain advanced practical expertise, ultimately enhancing the delivery of innovative and effective treatments in this critical field. IMET2000 remains committed to supporting the Palestinian healthcare sector by providing funding, grants, and specialised training programmes across various advanced medical fields.

IMET2000-Pal Launched the First Stress Relief and Management Workshop for Palestinian Medical Staff

IMET2000-Pal launched the first workshop in its Stress Relief and Management Programme . The workshop was organised in collaboration with the Assistant Undersecretary’s Office / Department of Continuing Education for Hospitals and Emergency Affairs at the Palestinian Ministry of Health.

Targeting doctors and nurses working in emergency departments, intensive care units, and primary care emergency centres, the workshop aimed to raise awareness of stress reduction, equip participants with effective stress management strategies, and foster a supportive work environment that promotes mental well-being. This initiative holds particular significance given the challenges faced by healthcare providers in the Palestine.

Led by Dr Afaf Rabee, Psychological Support Officer at the Universal Education Foundation (UEF Palestine), the workshop featured interactive activities designed to help participants identify and manage psychological stress, enhance self-communication skills, and implement emotional release strategies and self-care techniques.

Participants praised the workshops’ value, noting their positive impact on medical staff’s mental health and stressing the need to continue such initiatives for a supportive work environment.

IMET2000 Awards Clinical Training Grants to Palestinian Doctors

IMET2000 has awarded clinical training grants to Dr Oday Nawwaf and Dr Khaled Jallad for clinical training at East Kent Hospitals University and Walsall Manor Hospital in the United Kingdom, respectively. IMET2000 Launches “Inspiring Medical Excellence Through Research” Programme

As part of its efforts to enhance research skills in healthcare, IMET2000 has launched the first training course of its new programme, “Inspiring Medical Excellence Through Research” (IMET-R). The programme was conducted in partnership with the Faculty of Medicine at the Arab American University-Palestine, training held over three days (24–26 February 2025) at the university’s Ramallah campus. Fifteen medical students participated in the training, which focused on equipping Palestinian healthcare students with fundamental research skills through competency-based, hands-on learning. The training was inaugurated by Prof Malik Zaben, CEO of IMET2000 and Dean of the Faculty of Medicine at the Arab American University. He expressed gratitude to the students for their interest in research and encouraged them to make the most of the training to enhance their research capabilities. The IMET-R programme aims to advance research education in healthcare sciences and improve the quality of research conducted by Palestinian medical students and professionals. This training was led by Dr Ahmed Rajoub, the IMET2000-Pal Medical Education Officer.

IMET2000 Grants Dr Belal Al Ghamri an Advanced Training Opportunity in Microscopic surgery

IMET2000 has awarded a training grant to Dr Belal Al Ghamri from Gaza Strip, to trained in microscopic surgery within the field of plastic surgery and burns at Al Mansoura University /Hospital – Egypt. This initiative reflects the IMET2000’s commitment to supporting and developing medical competencies by providing doctors with opportunities to acquire advanced skills that contribute to enhancing the quality of healthcare. This support aligns with the IMET2000’s efforts to empower Palestinian medical professionals, ultimately improving the healthcare services provided to the community. Upon completing his training, Dr Belal Al Ghamri is expected to provide the knowledge and expertise he has gained to his colleagues, contributing to the enhancement of surgical care, particularly in plastic surgery and burns. This will strengthen the capabilities of the healthcare sector in Gaza in the future.

IMET2000 Awards Scholarships to Medical Students in Gaza

Amid the ongoing challenges in Gaza and in recognition of the role of education in strengthening the healthcare sector, the International Medical Education Trust (IMET2000) has awarded 23 scholarships to medical students at Al-Azhar University and the Islamic University of Gaza. Recipients were selected based on applications from students whose education has been disrupted by current circumstances. Through this initiative, IMET2000 aims to support students in completing their medical studies and to contribute to the development of the healthcare sector in both Gaza and the West Bank by equipping students with essential medical knowledge and skills, ultimately improving the quality of healthcare services to the community. The students expressed their deep gratitude and appreciation to IMET2000 for providing these scholarships, which have played a crucial role in enabling them to continue their educational journey in Gaza Strip. They emphasised that this support was not merely financial aid but a true motivation to persevere despite the challenges they face.

 

IMET2000 Hosts the Annual Event for 2025

The International Medical Education Trust (IMET2000) held its annual fundraising event at the UK House of Lords in London. The event was under the patronage of the Lord Evans of Watford and attended by prominent figures, including the Palestinian Minister of Health, Dr Maged Abu Ramadan, the Palestinian Ambassador to the UK, Dr Husam Zomlot, chair of IMET2000 Board of Trustees Prof Nick Maynard, and the CEO of IMET2000 Prof Malik Zaben, alongside other distinguished guests. In a recorded speech, IMET2000 founder Prof Colin Green highlighted the positive impact of this annual event in supporting the IMET2000’s 2025 medical and educational programmes, emphasising the importance of mental health amid ongoing challenges in Palestine. Dr Zomlot stressed the significance of supporting IMET2000’s initiatives to improve healthcare in Palestine, acknowledging international efforts toward IMET2000 aims. Dr Abu Ramadan discussed the state of the Palestinian healthcare sector and the critical role of IMET2000 in advancing medical education, expressing gratitude to supporters. Prof Zaben outlined IMET2000’s 2025 goals, which include providing medical aid and rehabilitation, enhancing mental health programmes for children, training healthcare professionals, and offering medical education scholarships. IMET2000-Pal Strengthens Collaboration with the Palestinian Ministry of Health to Advance Health Research

Meeting was held between representatives of the IMET2000—Professor Malik Zaben, Mr Fady Zaben, Dr Ahmad Rjoub, and Mrs Alia Taradeh—and the Director of the Health Education and Research Unit at the Palestinian Ministry of Health, Dr Abdallah Al-Kawasme. The meeting aimed to explore possibilities and ways for collaboration between IMET2000-PAL and the Health Education and Research Unit at the Palestinian Ministry of Health, and to collaborate on unifying efforts to create an sustain a supportive environment for medical research. During the discussions, attendees exchanged ideas and visions for future research educational projects, emphasising the importance of supporting physician-researchers, particularly recent graduates.

More than 30 members of the academic and clinical staff participated in the course, representing the Faculties of Medicine, Nursing, and Health Professions at Palestine Polytechnic University. IMET2000-Pal Supported Medical Students at Al-Quds University with Stethoscopes

The International Medical Education Trust 2000 – Palestine has provided significant support to medical students at Al-Quds University. This includes supplying Littmann Classic III™ stethoscopes to fourth-year students as they prepare to begin their practical training. Aimed to developing the healthcare sector in Palestine by investing in the next generation of doctors and enhancing their practical expertise, helping them achieve their professional aspirations and contribute to a healthier future. The stethoscopes were delivered at the IMET2000- Pal office in Ramallah in the presence of the representative, Mr Fady Zaben, and Dr Mazen AlKhateeb, Dean of Student Affairs at Al-Quds University.

Dr Mazen expressed his deep appreciation for the IMET2000 outstanding efforts and continuous support for the medical students, which significantly contributes to enhancing the quality of medical experience.

IMET2000 Signed a Memorandum of Understanding with the Palestinian Ministry of Health

As part of strengthening joint collaboration between the International Medical Education Trust 2000 (IMET2000) and the Palestinian Ministry of Health (MoH), IMET2000, represented by its CEO, Professor Malik Zaben, signed a cooperation agreement with the Palestinian Ministry of Health, represented by His Excellency Minister Dr Maged Abu Ramadan, during an official ceremony held at the ministry’s headquarters in Ramallah. The agreement focuses on developing healthcare and medical capacities and enhancing the efficiency of Palestinian healthcare professionals in national hospitals. Areas of cooperation include implementing specialized training programmes targeting doctors and nurses in fields such as mental health, trauma management, critical injury response, cardiac resuscitation and the biggest project of providing prosthetics and orthotics to war victims surviving with limb amputation.

Professor Malik Zaben expressed his happiness about the continued collaboration with the Palestinian Ministry of Health, noting that the agreement will pave the way for new opportunities in professional development and the transfer of global expertise to the Palestinian healthcare sector. Through the implementation of joint projects, the goal is to improve the quality of healthcare and enhance the level of services provided to citisens. For his part, His Excellency Minister Dr Maged Abu Ramadan commended the IMET2000 efforts in numerous health programmes, highlighting that such agreements are an important pillar supporting the work of the Palestinian Ministry of Health.

IMET2000-Pal Organised Advanced Trauma Life Support (ATLS) Training at IMET2000-Pal Training Centre

The International Medical Education Trust 2000 – Palestine organised a three-day training course titled “Advanced Trauma Life Support (ATLS)”, accredited by the American College of Surgeons. The training took place at the IMET2000-Pal Training Centre with 15 participants from governmental and private hospitals, in collaboration with the Palestinian Ministry of Health. The course was led by training director Dr Fahmi Jubran and training coordinator Mr Fady Zaben, with certified trainers Dr Mamoun Mansour, Dr Sameh Natsheh, Dr Ibrahim Majjad, Dr Ahmadallah Abu Yousef, and Dr Aram Abd Al-Haq.

The course aimed to enhance the skills of Palestinian medical professionals, ultimately contributing to improved emergency care for trauma patients and addressing the growing need for training in rapid trauma and emergency response to provide high-quality medical care. And to effectively convey medical concepts, enable rapid medical assessment, and equip participants with the skills necessary for initial medical interventions to save lives. The participants praised the efforts of IMET2000-Pal in enhancing the quality of medical services in Palestine and supporting the development of local expertise across various healthcare sectors.
